3. The Why Behind the 'Crónicas Kentukianas'

I remember that I began writing them almost involuntarily, as if an inevitable impulse had taken hold of me, unconscious and spontaneous. I jotted them down in my phone's notes, shared them with friends on social media, left them on paper napkins, in notebooks, on a voice recorder, and even in photographs. As I traveled those roads, my reflections and emotions surfaced in a natural way, like a reflex to everything I was living through. They sprang forth like that sincere scream that no one asks to hear, but that you sometimes need to let out. I longed to capture the indelible mark each experience left on me; the thought of keeping it all to myself in silence was suffocating.

At first, I didn't want to give them the spotlight, much less share them on a blog. I wrote for myself, to channel the transformations that every odyssey brings with it. That's why those chronicles were more therapy than testimony: a reunion with myself in that vast and majestic territory, where even the wind sighs in another language.

Finally, I dared to present these ‘Crónicas Kentukianas’ as the story of a teacher in North America, an experience as personal as it is shared, and one worthy of being told. An experience in which you will laugh, suffer and, perhaps, also come to feel part of it.
